St. Mary’s ChurchNegombo

Located on Grand Street, the St. Mary’ Church is a testament to the large Catholic community lives in the city of Negombo. Consecrated in the year 1924, 50 years after its foundation was laid, the church is an architectural masterpiece that reflects the neo-classical styles of European churches.

St. Mary’s Church is considered to be the main Catholic church in Negombo, and it hosts a myriad of festivals during the seasons of Easter and Christmas. In addition to the festivities, many who come to the church often find peace and solitude within due to the soothing architecture, paintings of the life of Christ, elaborate stained glasses, and images of saints and religious figures.
